Technical Officer, Climate-Informed Disease Surveillance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the technical planning processes and coordinate internally across all countries receiving technical assistance, ensuring that timelines, deliverables, and workstreams are aligned.

• Execute research, technical synthesis, and baseline documentation to guide country-specific system design and deployment strategies.

• Create and update technical documentation, input datasets, and supporting materials for modeling and dashboard development tasks.

• Play a role in the creation of workshop materials, training modules, and modeling components that facilitate national capacity building.

• Support the deployment, configuration, and testing phases of CI-EWS, identifying issues and documenting outcomes to aid in iterative enhancement.

• Foster effective working relationships with Ministry of Health partners and the wider IMACS technical assistance team, ensuring that CI-EWS tools align with local workflows, infrastructure limitations, and health system priorities.

• Compile progress updates, technical briefs, and internal reports that showcase achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.

• Proven experience in supporting the development or operation of surveillance systems, data platforms, or health information systems.

• Knowledge of machine learning concepts, applied AI tools, and the current landscape of data engineering frameworks.

• A history of contributing to multi-stakeholder projects from planning to implementation, with the capability to handle competing priorities across workstreams.

• Strong communication skills catering to both technical and policy audiences, with the ability to clearly synthesize and present data-driven insights.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail and a results-oriented approach.

• Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English, including the capacity to represent the organization externally and create materials for diverse audiences.

• Proficiency in written and oral French is highly desirable.

• Ability to cultivate and sustain productive relationships with stakeholders in government, technology, and global health sectors.
