Lead Electrical Equipment Testing Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Supervise the members of the Production Testing Team, providing guidance and mentorship.

• Ensure that product inspections align with engineering and quality standards.

• Assist testing procedures by maintaining accurate documentation and records.

• Conduct electrical testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of low- and medium-voltage equipment.

• Complete and submit detailed technical test reports.

• Develop and uphold testing documents, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and checklists.

• Collaborate with the Engineering team to identify and rectify issues in electrical drawings.

• Adhere to and assess Internal Testing Procedures for enhancements, and execute Factory Acceptance Testing.

• Maintain databases for repairs/calibrations and keep testing records updated.

• Prepare comprehensive service and failure documentation.

• Review and annotate as-built documentation, validating or correcting technical documents as necessary.

• Manage teams in various environments and execute assigned project tasks.

• Keep a tidy work area and comply with OSHA regulations.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of electrical equipment.

• Technical college education or equivalent formal training in Electrical Engineering Technologies.

• CET/CTech or Electrician’s/Journeyman designation/license.

• Previous experience with low and medium voltage equipment.

• Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in electrical testing.

• Proficiency in using High Pot test set, Current Injector, Megger insulation resistance meter, multimeter, relay test set, and corona test set.

• Capability to manage technical tasks with minimal oversight.

• Strong analytical abilities and the skill to interpret schematics.

• Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office.

• Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to train staff, supervise teams, and collaborate effectively.

• Strong organizational abilities, including time management and record-keeping skills.

• Capable of performing mechanical and electrical inspections.

• Experience with testing switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, breakers, and MCCs.

• Ability to access and navigate through various departments at assigned facilities.

• Willingness to travel between MCG manufacturing locations and/or client sites, including overnight stays.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing setting while adhering to OSHA standards.

• Physical capability to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, stand, walk, and lift or move objects up to 50 lbs.

• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

• Ability to follow instructions and remain vigilant to potential shop-floor hazards.
