Clinical Laboratory Technologist – Cytogenetics, FISH

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Conduct tissue culture, harvesting, slide preparation and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, including probing and scoping.

• Assess specimen acceptability based on established criteria.

• Execute routine and intricate technical procedures in accordance with departmental SOPs.

• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.

• Make informed technical decisions regarding testing and problem resolution.

• Prepare, test, and assess new reagents or controls.

• Provide accurate and timely reporting of test results.

• Carry out and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

• Identify and restock testing bench supplies as necessary.

• Assist with specimen processing as required.

• Ensure a safe working environment and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.

• Contribute to the training and development of team members.

• Support daily laboratory operations through FISH analysis, technical review, and coordination of workflow.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.

• At least 3 months of clinical laboratory testing experience in cytogenetics/FISH.

• Additional applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may fulfill educational requirements in lieu of the specified degree.

• Knowledge of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.

• Experience in a high-volume laboratory setting.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Proficient in computer use and familiar with laboratory information systems.

• Strong attention to detail alongside excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Capability to meet the physical demands of the role.

• Must pass a standardized color blindness test.

• Willingness to work overtime or alternate shifts as required by business needs.

• Must have a dedicated, non-shared home office that complies with HIPAA regulations.

• Agreement to include home address in reports of analyzed or reported cases as required by CMS.

• Access to wired or wireless internet with a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment remotely.

• Preferred: National Credentialing Agency (NCA) Cytogenetics certification (CLSp-CG).

• Preferred: ASCP or AMT certification.
