Technical Manager, Data Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee, mentor, and guide a team of Data Engineers and Data Application Administrators, promoting technical development and teamwork.

• Utilize expertise in data engineering to support the connection and ingestion of data source systems into Shure’s data lake and Enterprise Data Warehouse.

• Design data transformations and load data from various sources into Shure’s data lake and/or data warehousing layer.

• Tackle problems of varying complexity where data analysis necessitates the evaluation of identifiable factors.

• Guide new team members and lead the team in embracing best practices.

• Demonstrate proficiency and hands-on experience with the AWS Data Engineering Stack, Snowflake, and Informatica IDMC.

• Spearhead CI/CD development and code migration utilizing industry best practices.

• Direct Scrum teams under the SAFe Agile framework, fostering a strong One Team mindset and accountability culture.

• Track cloud resource utilization and implement strategies for cost optimization.

• Possess knowledge and experience in AI/ML models and Generative AI techniques for predictive analytics and AI applications.

• Exhibit sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for deriving solutions.

• Engage in automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of DataOps operations.

• Support Shure’s data governance initiatives.

• Build networks with senior internal and external personnel in your area of expertise.

• Rapidly learn emerging technologies and industry trends while proactively driving enhancements and innovation.

• Formulate and implement strategies to enhance data extraction efficiency, quality, and reliability.

• Actively participate in the requirements gathering process with guidance from Data Engineers for complex integrations.

• Collaborate with Data Architects, IT Systems Analysts, and Business Data Analysts to design and construct flexible, scalable, and sustainable data models and analytical solutions that align with business needs.

• Translate business requirements into technical solutions by leveraging Shure’s data application investments.

• Document technical solution proposals and final designs.

• Deliver high-quality code that meets standards, performs technical validation, and supports functional and user acceptance testing.

• Engage in continuous process and system enhancements to ensure the reliability of the data platform.

• Provide regular support to business users and functional teams by resolving Service Desk tickets and Requests per agreed-upon SLAs.

• Document and execute unit test cases, and perform unit and regression testing.

• Adhere to and contribute to general IT processes, procedures, and policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably in Computer Science) or a master’s degree in computer science.

• At least 5+ years of experience managing a team and working with enterprise data warehouse platforms, building and managing data lakes, and utilizing big data technologies.

• Minimum of 10+ years’ experience with Data Engineering Solutions.

• A minimum of 8+ years’ experience with AWS, Snowflake, Informatica IDMC, or similar technologies.

• Ability to translate business function analytical requirements into technical documentation and assist in development, validation, and deployment for use.

• Strong understanding of various data architecture frameworks, as well as domain knowledge and expertise in designing scalable and efficient data models.

• Proficient in the AWS technology platform.

• Experience in solutioning on AWS infrastructure utilizing services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis, Step Functions, Glue ETL, Glue Crawler, Data Catalog, Lake Formation, Amazon Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB, and Athena.

• Proficient in the Snowflake DWH Solution and Informatica IDMC or similar integration platforms.

• Comprehensive understanding of enterprise business processes, particularly in sales, manufacturing, inventory management, finance, and costing.

• Prior experience working with structured data within ERP and data warehouse systems such as SAP-S/4, Salesforce, or SAP-BW.

• Knowledge and a fair understanding of structured and unstructured data, Web, IoT, ERP, and experience integrating and migrating SAP landscapes to AWS using Informatica or other open data integration tools.

• A fair understanding of networking and the ability to troubleshoot and identify issues in application integration.

• Familiarity with integration protocols like OData, ODP, Custom API, JDBC, ODBC, File, REST API, and others.

• Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

• Strong coding skills in SQL, Python, PySpark, or similar technologies.

• A fair understanding of SLAs and experience with ticketing tools like Service Now.

• Demonstrated understanding of business processes and their impact on reporting design and solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong time management abilities.

• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.

• Familiarity and working experience with various project management methodologies such as SAFe Agile methods.

• Possession of any recognized certification (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, PMP) is preferred.
