• Take ownership and advance the technical vision of the consumer platform, establishing a long-term architectural strategy while making practical, everyday technical choices.
• Make impactful architectural decisions within a contemporary TypeScript environment, balancing speed, scalability, product quality, and sustainable maintenance.
• Act as the technical "north star" for the team by conducting design reviews, code reviews, and providing in-depth technical guidance.
• Remain actively involved in the codebase, contributing to intricate features, troubleshooting production challenges, and leading system design efforts from start to finish.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to shape project roadmaps, question assumptions, and convert vague problems into clear technical paths.
• Elevate engineering quality standards across performance, reliability, testing strategies, observability, and developer experience.
• Provide mentorship to engineers by exemplifying sound engineering judgment.
• Establish and implement AI-assisted engineering workflows that significantly boost team velocity (beyond just individual productivity), utilizing tools such as Cursor, Codex, Claude, and others.
• Engage in hiring and interviewing to help uphold a high technical standard within the organization.
• Work in collaboration with engineering teams to influence shared systems, infrastructure, and overarching platform decisions.
• Over 8 years of software engineering experience with extensive knowledge in modern full-stack web development.
• Proven experience in owning or significantly impacting the architecture for large-scale consumer-facing web products.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, Node.js, and Next.js, favoring the development of maintainable systems over short-term solutions.
• Experience in building and scaling modern full-stack applications using GraphQL, Apollo, and AWS, with strong knowledge in both relational and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and DynamoDB.
• Demonstrated capability to function as a technical leader.
• Exceptional engineering judgment — capable of making sound decisions in uncertain situations with incomplete data.
• Strong hands-on coding skills with a readiness to stay involved in implementation.
• Experience in scaling systems while managing constraints related to performance, reliability, and product velocity trade-offs.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across engineering, product, and design disciplines.
• Profound, practical knowledge of AI-assisted development — focusing on real workflow integration that enhances how teams deliver software, rather than mere experimentation.
• A preference for systems thinking, simplicity, and long-term maintainability over local optimization.
• Remote-first work environment.
• Competitive salary and equity options.
• Flexible PTO policy.
• 401(k) plan.
• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
• 16 weeks of paid parental leave for both primary and secondary caregivers.
• $1,000 reimbursement for setting up work-from-home technology.
• Company-sponsored sustainability subscription to maintain carbon neutrality for employee activities, including travel.
