
Technical Consultant – Renewable Structural

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Collaborates closely with Technical Directors and the Vice President, serving as a subject matter expert for the most intricate projects within the Renewable Structural department.
• Conducts thorough reviews of detailed structural designs for substations, PV, and BESS.
• The ideal candidate will have expertise in the design of substations, BESS, and PV systems, along with knowledge of steel, driven pile, helical pile, and drilled pier design.
• Common design outputs may include general arrangements, elevations, plan and profile drawings, grading plans, road plans, foundation plans and details, structural steel drawings and details, bus and connection details, bill of materials, building plans, conductor stringing tables, fence details, permitting, and drainage plans.
• Writes and reviews specifications related to materials, construction, and steel.
• Evaluates submittals to ensure compliance with specifications and design standards.
• Aids in the development and implementation of technical standards throughout the department.
• Prepares both hand calculations and computer-based models for structural designs.
• Conducts field inspections and provides construction supervision services as necessary.
• Reviews the work of designers, drafters, and engineers to ensure overall quality and accuracy as required.
• Maintains a comprehensive understanding of relevant Codes and Standards.
• Participates in conferences, training workshops, seminars, and both undergraduate and graduate courses as needed for professional development and to uphold work quality.
• Engages in safety training and adheres to safety regulations and guidelines.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, with a preference for civil/structural or mechanical options.
• Over 7 years of pertinent engineering or field experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MathCAD, and design software such as SAP2000, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, along with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal abilities.
