This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Architecture & Reliability β Strengthen Ava's voice and workflow systems to ensure reliability in production. Define essential architecture, observability, and audit-trail standards.
β’ RaaS Delivery Layer β Develop the internal framework that enables the team to configure, monitor, and enhance AI performance without increasing engineering staff.
β’ Unit Economics β Take ownership of balancing AI quality and cost-per-call, securing unit economics within the $499/month pricing framework.
β’ Customer & Market β Serve as the company's technical representative in discussions with lawyers, partners, and investors.
β’ Roadmap β Transform pilots into paying clients, expand the AI workforce beyond initial roles, and initiate development toward custom and self-hosted models to meet legal and privacy requirements.
β’ Team β Attract and lead the founding engineering team while establishing the cultural foundation of the organization.
β’ Experience deploying LLM-powered and voice systems in production settings where incorrect outputs could have significant consequences.
β’ Comprehensive expertise across applied LLMs, real-time voice and conversational AI, telephony, human-in-the-loop workflows, observability, and secure multi-tenant SaaS.
β’ Strong beliefs regarding reliability engineering, edge-case management, and the trade-offs between AI quality and cost-per-call.
β’ Proven experience in creating managed and service-intensive platforms, with the ability to scale delivery without increasing engineering headcount.
β’ Willingness to function as a principal β including the readiness to communicate when "this won't scale" or "this isn't ready" is necessary for maintaining product integrity.
β’ Strongly preferred: prior experience as a founder or in early-stage technical leadership; background in legal tech, healthcare, or other trust-sensitive sectors; ability to self-host custom models to address legal and privacy requirements.
