Technical Architect – Platform, Cloud Infrastructure

📋 Description

• Act as an Infrastructure Migration Specialist and Solution Architect focusing on AWS cloud migrations.

• Lead initiatives in Platform Engineering.

• Oversee large-scale Lift and Shift (REHOST) and REPLATFORM migrations to AWS EC2 architectures.

• Plan and carry out migration activities utilizing AWS Migration Hub, MGN, SMS, DMS, CloudEndure, and Double-Take.

• Perform portfolio evaluations and establish optimal migration strategies using AWS Migration Evaluator.

• Diagnose issues with Windows or Linux operating systems and database servers during the migration process.

• Enable clients to fully leverage the advantages of cloud infrastructure.

• Design, deploy, and sustain AWS cloud infrastructure services.

• Configure and manage hybrid cloud networks, VPNs, AWS Direct Connect, and Application Load Balancers.

• Streamline migration, development, and testing processes through automation, employing scripting, IaC, and CI/CD tools.

• Oversee monitoring of cloud infrastructure and application performance.

• Enhance database queries and application performance following migration.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of relevant experience.

• Expertise in architecting, deploying, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure services.

• Familiarity with medium to large enterprise architectures and multi-account AWS configurations.

• Recent experience in cloud migration strategies, including the 7 Rs.

• Experience with at least one large-scale REHOST migration and one large-scale REPLATFORM migration directed at AWS EC2 architectures.

• Proficient in using CloudEndure, Double-Take, AWS Migration Hub, AWS Application Migration Service (MGN), AWS Server Migration Service (SMS), and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).

• Knowledgeable in AWS EC2, S3, auto-scaling, Landing Zone, and Control Tower.

• Skilled with AWS Migration Evaluator and portfolio assessment tools.

• Understanding of service-oriented architecture and cloud-based web services architecture, design patterns, and frameworks.

• Proficient in Windows or Linux operating systems with troubleshooting capabilities for migration-related challenges.

• Knowledge of compute, storage, network, and messaging services.

• Expertise in managing hybrid cloud networks, VPNs, AWS Direct Connect, and Application Load Balancers.

• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, and CDK.

• Experience with CI/CD tools including Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, and Docker.

• Understanding of AWS security best practices, IAM roles and policies, and compliance requirements.

• Practical experience with Bash, Python, Core Java, and Scala.

• Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, and AWS SSM.

• Knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESX, NSX, vMotion, and VM Export/Import.

• Experience in monitoring infrastructure and application performance using Amazon CloudWatch.

• Experience in optimizing database queries and application performance post-migration.

• Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.

• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.

• Ability to build and manage container platforms using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS EKS.

• Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
