This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Take ownership of and implement account strategies that align with divisional goals, such as increasing volume, enhancing margins, and expanding market share.
• Spearhead the technical-commercial relationship with converters and end users, establishing robust, multi-tiered connections from plant operations to executive management.
• Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements to guide strategy and proactively spot growth opportunities.
• Serve as a technical expert for customers by comprehending their converting machinery, specifications, performance metrics, and application needs.
• Work in collaboration with engineering, quality, and operations teams to design, test, and launch new products, grades, and service offerings.
• Convert customer process challenges into actionable internal development initiatives, encompassing trials, qualifications, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Aid in developing value propositions by quantifying enhancements in performance, material efficiencies, and operational advantages.
• Direct pricing strategies and manage margins for assigned accounts.
• Maintain comprehensive account analytics, including sales data, volume forecasts, gross margins, competitive positioning, specifications, and contract terms.
• Assist in sales and operational planning (S&OP) through precise forecasting and demand insights.
• Oversee commercial agreements, including pricing structures, supply contracts, inventory programs, and confidentiality agreements.
• Ensure disciplined management of accounts receivable, days sales outstanding (DSO), and working capital goals.
• Act as the main commercial liaison across operations, quality, technology, engineering, procurement, and finance to ensure alignment with account strategies.
• Promote internal communication to guarantee seamless execution of customer programs from development to commercialization.
• Lead the resolution of intricate technical or commercial challenges by coordinating cross-functional resources for timely and effective solutions.
• Conduct regular business and technical evaluations covering performance, quality, delivery, innovation pipelines, and value creation.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement focused on operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
• A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in engineering, materials science, chemistry, business, or a related technical field.
• 7–10+ years of experience in packaging and paper manufacturing settings, possessing a strong combination of technical and commercial roles.
• Proven track record in strategic or national account management and developing complex opportunities.
• Demonstrated capability to quantify and articulate both technical and financial value.
• Strong analytical skills, presentation abilities, and business acumen.
• Proficiency in CRM systems along with advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience in supporting new product development or technical commercialization initiatives.
• Familiarity with converting processes, raw materials, and performance-based specifications.
