This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers dedicated to the integration of machine learning models into extensive production software systems.

• Establish the technical direction and roadmap for model integration workflows, emphasizing scalability, reliability, automation, and enhancing developer productivity.

• Spearhead the design and creation of tools, platforms, and processes that facilitate the transition of models from development to simulation, testing, and production environments.

• Collaborate closely with machine learning engineers, infrastructure teams, software platform teams, and program leaders to ensure efficient integration, validation, and release of models.

• Enhance model onboarding, configuration, interface management, observability, and release-readiness processes throughout the integration lifecycle.

• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in model integration workflows by minimizing manual steps and boosting automation.

• Establish robust engineering practices focused on quality, validation, governance, and operational excellence.

• Work alongside engineering leadership and program management to define priorities, align dependencies, and achieve key milestones.

• Conduct performance evaluations, offer coaching and feedback, and assist engineers in their progression towards senior technical or management roles.

• Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.

• Contribute to enhancing GM’s engineering culture through recruitment, hiring, and providing technical leadership.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in machine learning systems, software infrastructure, platform engineering, deployment systems, or related large-scale software domains.

• Proficient software engineering skills with practical experience in Python and at least one systems programming language, such as C++.

• Experience in building or managing internal platforms, workflow automation, configuration systems, release tooling, or developer-facing infrastructure.

• Proven experience in integrating machine learning models or complex software components into production systems.

• Strong grasp of software quality, validation, observability, and reliability in production environments.

• Experience in developing and debugging software within Linux-based environments.

• Demonstrated success in leading technical teams or executing large cross-functional initiatives that yield measurable business or engineering results.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the capability to align teams across various functions.
