Team Leader Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Lead an independent agile engineering team by setting an example.

• Guide the technical decision-making process and take ownership of architecture and delivery results.

• Foster engineers' development through constructive feedback, coaching, and clear expectations.

• Contribute to production code, review pull requests, address tickets, and assist with incident management.

• Design and implement features and architectural enhancements with a focus on scalability, resilience, and maintainability.

• Establish technical standards and promote unit, integration, load, and end-to-end testing strategies.

• Enhance observability and reliability through monitoring, debugging, tracing, and performance evaluations.

• Assist in improving incident response protocols.

• Collaborate with Product, QA, engineering teams, Product Owners, Business Leads, Team Leads, and technical colleagues.

• Translate product objectives into effective technical execution and sensible trade-offs.

• Create, maintain, and review RFCs, ADRs, and API documentation.

• Influence the technical direction and delivery results for core digital lending solutions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in a technical leadership position within an agile framework.

• Experience leading a team while remaining closely involved with the code.

• Proven ability to mentor engineers and deliver clear, constructive feedback.

• Capacity to balance hands-on technical contributions with coordination, prioritization, and stakeholder engagement.

• Several years of practical backend development experience using OOP languages.

• Proficiency in PHP with Symfony and MySQL is a significant advantage.

• Strong skills in system design and experience in building scalable and resilient systems.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud-based architectures.

• Experience in designing, implementing, and enhancing CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong background in monitoring and operational excellence.

• Confidence in debugging, tracing, and conducting performance analysis.

• In-depth knowledge of API design and management, including versioning, security, and monitoring.

• Professional-level proficiency in spoken and written English.

• German language skills are a plus.

• Domain knowledge in Credit Risk and Pricing, including data-driven decision-making and scoring, is a nice-to-have.
