This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +19 more states.

📋 Description

• Conducts monthly bookkeeping tasks, which include reconciling general ledger accounts with various external sources such as billing records, tax reports, or bank statements.

• Investigates state-specific regulations regarding employer and worker tax enrollment.

• Establishes a framework to ensure ongoing compliance with both state and federal payroll tax laws and regulations.

• Registers Palco with various state and federal agencies to designate individuals as new employers, ensuring timely filing of tax and labor reports.

• Keeps tax accounts in good standing for our clients.

• Manages the process of designating individuals as the employer of record with the necessary state and federal entities, including overseeing the appointment of agent letters and tax identification number assignments.

• Researches, compiles, and formulates procedures related to new processes involving state entities as they pertain to tax reporting.

• Ensures accurate and timely filing of all tax deposits and reports, including SUTA, state income tax reports and reconciliations, IRS Forms 941 and 940, W-2, W-3, 1099, and 1096.

• Guarantees timely payment of liabilities such as taxes and garnishments.

• Reconciles workers’ compensation policies and provides information for the annual audit with the insurance carrier.

• Conducts projections related to budget estimates for workers’ compensation and other tax-related costs.

• Assists in various projects, including audits and reviews, as well as other accounting-related tasks such as year-end closeouts and tax report preparation.

• Generates additional accounting-related reports on an ongoing basis, as required.

• Documents pertinent accounting procedures as needed.

• Maintains confidentiality of records.

• Proposes recommendations for process improvements.

• Conducts periodic quality reviews of data.


⛳️ Requirements

• A 4-year college degree is preferred in a business-related field.

• Accounting majors are preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or processing is required.

• Familiarity with payroll, payroll taxes, general ledgers, and accounting or bookkeeping practices.

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, along with general computer skills.

• Ability to apply critical thinking skills, including data analysis, rule interpretation, logical reasoning, and devising practical solutions to unique challenges.

• Self-motivated; readiness to take ownership of processes.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with effective listening abilities.
