• Take ownership of tax compliance across various African jurisdictions.
• Oversee comprehensive tax operations throughout the ESA region.
• Accountable for tax filings, reconciliations, audits, and transfer pricing support.
• Interact with revenue authorities in multiple countries.
• Keep track of legislative and regulatory tax updates to ensure compliance.
• Generate periodic reports on tax compliance.
• Collaborate with external advisors and internal teams to address tax issues.
• Assist with tax considerations for new market entries and operational structuring.
• 5–7 years of progressive tax experience, ideally a mix of Big 4 or mid-tier tax practice and in-house corporate tax exposure.
• Demonstrated experience in managing multi-country tax compliance throughout Africa.
• In-depth knowledge of East African tax systems, especially in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
• Familiarity with Southern African tax landscapes, including Zambia, Mozambique, Ethiopia, or Zimbabwe, is highly desirable.
• Practical experience in managing tax audits, disputes, and engagements with revenue authorities.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related discipline.
• A professional designation such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is required.
• Additional tax qualifications like ADIT or Higher Diploma in International Tax are advantageous.
• Strong technical knowledge of direct and indirect taxes across ESA jurisdictions.
• Understanding of IFRS and experience in multinational operating environments.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with great attention to detail.
• Capability to articulate complex tax issues clearly to non-tax stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, adept at juggling multiple priorities.
• A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with high professional integrity.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Xero, or similar platforms.
• Proficient in English communication at a professional level.
