This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Act as the primary executive-level contact for a multi-million dollar portfolio, ensuring clients receive proactive, strategic, and timely tax advice throughout the year.
• Facilitate tax strategy discussions with clients, uncovering planning opportunities that extend beyond mere compliance.
• Conduct meetings with key clients to assess tax positions, refine strategies, and document insights into repeatable processes.
• Prepare and/or evaluate strategic tax plans for technical accuracy, long-term savings potential, and alignment with client objectives.
• Investigate and provide counsel on intricate tax issues; engage external resources as necessary and document the results.
• Recognize and present additional service opportunities to clients; delegate to the appropriate team member.
• Review tax returns, forecasts, and strategic tax plans created by team members for technical accuracy, adherence to client tax strategies, and compliance with current regulations.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals to enhance both their technical skills and efficiency.
• Oversee the tax department's key performance indicators: capacity, utilization, turnaround time, time under budget, average hourly rate, and percentage of tax work completed.
• Must possess a valid CPA or EA license (required).
• Minimum of 6 years of tax and accounting experience within a public accounting firm.
• Proven track record of leading and developing a team of tax professionals.
• Comprehensive understanding of individual, corporate, and partnership taxation; trust experience is an advantage.
• Experience in conducting or leading tax planning discussions with business clients, rather than just preparing returns.
• High proficiency in tax software and productivity tools; adept at learning new systems.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fully remote setting.
