This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of and oversee the global tax strategy for the company.
• Ensure accurate preparation and submission of federal, state, and local taxes, including franchise fees and other charges.
• Review and file monthly sales and use tax returns via Avalara across multiple states.
• Evaluate annual income tax returns and quarterly/yearly federal and state tax projections from the external tax team.
• Prepare and submit Forms 1099, 1042, and 3921 on an annual basis.
• Collaborate with external tax accountants to assess the annual tax provision.
• Create the return calendar and synchronize treasury timing for cash disbursements.
• Formulate and execute strategic tax planning for global entities.
• Identify and address tax risks through established controls and procedures.
• Enhance the company's tax processes.
• Ensure adherence to laws and regulations governing all legal entities.
• Keep abreast of tax law changes, communicate their implications to management, and devise strategies accordingly.
• Maintain the internal tax filing calendar.
• Regularly monitor and update economic and physical tax nexus, registering in new jurisdictions as necessary.
• Track and update product sales taxability in registered states.
• Oversee transfer pricing studies, documentation, and intercompany pricing strategies.
• Act as the primary tax liaison with external auditors, tax consultants, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
• Reconcile tax liability and asset balances within the general ledger and record tax expense accruals.
• Handle inbound tax inquiries through email.
• Collaborate with Accounting on the annual financial audit and various ad hoc projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation.
• CPA certification is necessary; both active and inactive statuses are accepted.
• Over 7 years of experience in Tax (management, audit, compliance, or similar roles) within a fast-paced setting, including prior exposure to international tax.
• A blend of public (preferably Big 4) corporate tax and private tax experience.
• Significant experience in tax planning, compliance, and tax return preparation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, including international tax laws applicable to global organizations.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and research capabilities.
• Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
• Experience in financial modeling.
• Familiarity with US federal, state, and local income tax; sales and use tax compliance; as well as international tax and transfer pricing fundamentals.
