This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.
• Define engineering strategy and architecture.
• Take ownership of the technical strategy for applications, including decisions on build vs. buy, modernization, and platform evolution.
• Establish architecture principles, reference patterns, and reusable components to enable teams to build efficiently and securely.
• Ensure that systems are designed with reliability, scalability, auditability, and security suitable for financial services.
• Provide a reliable and transparent engineering operating cadence.
• Develop an execution model that translates priorities into actionable delivery (intake, planning, sequencing, dependency management, release management).
• Offer decision-grade visibility into progress, risks, and trade-offs for executive stakeholders.
• Collaborate with program and portfolio leadership to convert roadmap commitments into resourced plans and tangible outcomes.
• Lead and cultivate high-performing engineering teams.
• Recruit, retain, and nurture engineering talent across software and web disciplines.
• Set benchmarks for engineering excellence, including code quality, testing, documentation, on-call readiness, and production ownership.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, pragmatic craftsmanship, and accountability.
• Build and modernize web and application platforms.
• Direct the technical strategy for Tidal’s web surfaces and application platforms to ensure a cohesive user experience, accessibility, and performance.
• Set front-end engineering standards and develop shared components, including design system integrations, reusable UI patterns, and developer tools.
• Drive modernization initiatives as necessary (framework upgrades, build performance, and sustainable architecture) while maintaining delivery velocity.
• Develop AI and automation capabilities where they are impactful.
• Identify high-return-on-investment automation opportunities within operations and engineering workflows.
• Ensure that AI-enabled solutions are safe, auditable, and maintainable, incorporating privacy measures, model risk assessments, and human-in-the-loop controls where necessary.
• Enhance the organization’s baseline AI fluency through the development of patterns, tools, and enablement strategies.
• Strengthen engineering delivery, security, and compliance practices.
• Oversee engineering controls and practices that align with SOC2/ISO-style expectations, vendor risk posture, and internal audit requirements.
• Collaborate with Security and IT teams to ensure secure software development lifecycle practices, access controls, secrets management, and incident response preparedness.
• Establish and monitor Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for critical systems, reducing operational risk through reliability engineering.
• Partner across the organization.
• Work together with Operations, Product/Platform stakeholders, and executive leadership to shape priorities and outcomes.
• Translate complex engineering concepts into clear business language concerning risk, cost, capacity, delivery trade-offs, and impact.
• Represent engineering in senior-level forums, including executive updates, board-level readiness, and partner discussions as necessary.
• Over 15 years of experience in software engineering, with substantial experience in leading teams and leaders.
• Proven experience in building and managing production software and data systems with strong reliability and quality standards.
• In-depth knowledge of modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, testing, observability, cloud infrastructure, and API/data integration patterns.
• Strong judgment in sequencing, trade-offs, and prioritization, capable of balancing speed with risk management.
• Exceptional cross-functional communication skills, providing clear updates, framing decisions, and storytelling at the executive level.
