This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Establish and advocate for a multi-year technology strategy and architectural vision that anticipates market dynamics and directly aligns with the long-term business goals and revenue expansion of the company.
• Collaborate with executive teams in Product Management to outline, prioritize, and steer the technical trajectory of the product roadmap.
• Oversee and manage the complete engineering delivery process in accordance with the product roadmap, employing agile methodologies.
• Continuously uphold and enhance world-class standards for system quality, performance, security, and resilience throughout the entire platform.
• Provide executive guidance on core technical domains while proactively assessing and incorporating emerging technologies.
• Administer the engineering budget, maximize ROI on technology investments, and streamline resource allocation.
• Champion Hazelcast’s open-source core with a dedication to transparency and stability.
• Balance the demands of commercial clients with the expectations of a global open-source community.
• Act as a leading voice and advocate for the company within the wider open-source and real-time data ecosystems.
• Inspire, lead, and manage a widely distributed, global engineering team.
• Foster a strong product-led, innovation-driven culture within the department.
• Direct global headcount planning and cultivate a strong leadership pipeline.
• Over 12 years of progressive leadership experience in software engineering, including at least 7 years in VP, SVP, or CTO roles, ideally within a B2B enterprise software or platform organization.
• Demonstrated capability in managing substantial departmental budgets, optimizing engineering expenditures, and translating complex technical choices into clear business value for executive-level stakeholders.
• Profound understanding of complex architectures, concurrent and distributed systems, high-performance computing, and real-time data architectures.
• Skilled at balancing the expectations of the open-source community with enterprise demands, maintaining strict public API discipline, documentation standards, and governance practices.
• Proven history of effectively scaling and leading a geographically distributed, international engineering organization of considerable size.
• A solid foundation in the core technologies pertinent to the Hazelcast platform, including Java, concurrency, networking, data streaming, SQL, distributed data stores, and data grids.
• Proficient in modern agile methodologies and continuous delivery pipelines, with a focus on rapidly, reliably, and scalably delivering product capabilities.
• Comfortable working backward from customer needs and thriving in an “open-kitchen,” GTM-aligned environment.
