This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.
• Serve as the main liaison between the Harmonic teams and our primary Contract Manufacturers located in Asia.
• Enhance CM performance in the following areas:
• Timely delivery (OTD)
• New Product Introduction (NPI) execution
• Build readiness
• Inventory health (E&O, Safety stock, Complete Sets)
• Ensure alignment between CM operations and production schedules, forecasts, and customer obligations.
• Facilitate regular operational reviews (WBR/QBR) with CM teams.
• Proactively identify potential risks and implement mitigation plans to guarantee continuous production.
• Assist in engaging with essential suppliers that support CM operations as necessary.
• Ensure material availability aligns with production timelines and ramp-up plans.
• Help enhance supplier performance in areas such as delivery, lead time, capacity, and cost.
• Manage escalations related to shortages and supply constraints.
• Align supply commitments with demand changes and market conditions.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from the development phase to mass production.
• Implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Design Alterations (DAs).
• Assist in material planning and readiness for prototype builds and production ramp-up.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to resolve issues swiftly.
• Drive material planning strategies, including MRP, JIT, and Kanban where applicable.
• Optimize:
• Inventory levels
• Excess and obsolete (E&O) material
• Improve lead times and responsiveness in the supply chain.
• Support cost reduction initiatives across suppliers and Contract Manufacturers.
• Work closely with Engineering, Operations Engineering, Procurement/SCM, and Quality teams.
• Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving for intricate supply chain and technical issues.
• Provide clear communication and reporting to management.
• Support SCM initiatives aimed at improving supply chain processes, visibility, and reporting to enhance responsiveness and execution.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in:
• Supply chain and operations.
• Electronics or semiconductor manufacturing processes.
• Proven track record of managing Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
• Strong background in:
• Supplier management
• Material planning
• Production ramp and New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Experience in Asia-based manufacturing environments.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding management and communication abilities.
• Willingness to travel within Asia and globally as needed, with an expectation of frequent on-site presence at the CM to support execution.
• Familiarity with the Penang manufacturing ecosystem.
• Background in semiconductor or complex electromechanical systems.
• Knowledge of CM and OEM ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP).
• Strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities.
• Ability to function under pressure and navigate ambiguity.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to engage suppliers effectively.
• Data-driven decision-making approach.
• Hands-on, proactive leadership style.
• Travel as required.
