Student Accountability Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee the planning, management, security, and enhancement of NC Connections’ state testing program.

• Collaborate with school administration, educators, staff, students, and guardians.

• Develop and coordinate all required school testing plans as mandated by NCDPI, ensuring compliance with state timelines, policies, confidentiality standards, and ethical testing codes.

• Participate in all necessary state and school training sessions and meetings, whether in-person or virtual.

• Provide training for all school personnel on test security, ethical testing methodologies, testing protocols, and accommodations for students with disabilities and English learners.

• Oversee and support the review, coordination, documentation, and submission of all testing accommodations within North Carolina state systems.

• Design and maintain individual testing plans for each testing window.

• Collaborate with NCDPI to procure the necessary testing materials for each administration.

• Organize proctors, site-based testing coordinators, venues, technology requirements, and staff travel related to all facets of in-person testing.

• Create testing schedules, student group assignments, and staff roles while ensuring test security and fidelity.

• Manage systems for tracking student testing assignments, confirmations, participation, and attendance.

• Coordinate and assist with informing students and guardians about schedules, locations, and testing expectations.

• Ensure all testing materials are securely stored and managed in compliance with state regulations.

• Report any testing irregularities and security incidents through OTISS or other designated systems within mandated timelines.

• Maintain the confidentiality of student assessment results and ensure appropriate use of scores.

• Coordinate benchmark testing participation approximately three times throughout the school year.

• Analyze state testing, benchmark, and other student performance data to identify areas needing improvement.

• Collaborate with educators and school leaders to devise instructional strategies, interventions, and training aimed at enhancing student outcomes.

• Assist in preparing and distributing reports related to test performance, school and student demographics, School Report Card data, and other accountability metrics.

• Work together to create test preparation courses or programs, serving as a Teacher of Record for assigned test preparation classes (e.g., ACT Prep, EOG Prep).

• Act as a homeroom teacher for high-risk and/or credit-deficient high school students.

• Supervise and manage assigned instructional staff in accordance with school policies and procedures.

• Engage in professional development and contribute to schoolwide initiatives.

• Support school meetings, training sessions, graduation ceremonies, field trips, test preparation, and testing events.

• Assist in the preparation and distribution of reports to guide leadership and staff in interpreting performance data and school/student characteristics.

• Collaborate on and contribute to the school improvement planning process and its monitoring.

• Complete all grading, lesson preparation, and communications with students and learning coaches within specified deadlines for any assigned course or task.

• Adhere to and support Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and Section 504 Plans for students in assigned courses.

• Participate in professional development and learning communities.

• Collaborate to ensure the successful implementation of schoolwide attendance and truancy initiatives.

• Develop methods and activities to foster and maintain a virtual “school community.”

• Work cooperatively with school staff daily using online meeting and communication tools and school LMS (e.g., Pearson Online Classroom, Google Chat, Gmail, Google Meet, Zoom, etc.).

• Maintain regular communication with learning coaches and students via computer and telephone (e.g., Google Voice, POC Webmail, LiveLesson, Zoom, etc.).

• Keep student records and data current, including Data Views, cumulative files, online family information, attendance records, and logging all contacts with students and learning coaches.

• Serve as the State Testing Coordinator for the North Carolina Connections Academy Public School Unit.

• Participate in field trips and other community activities organized for students and families.

• Perform any other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Valid North Carolina Teaching License (administrative license and/or degree preferred).

• Preference for North Carolina residency.

• Strong organizational, logistical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Proven experience supporting state testing administration in a virtual setting.

• Ability to learn and navigate state testing, assessment, and student information reporting systems effectively.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license or state-issued identification card.

• Availability to work full-time from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with students, parents, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.

• Proficient technology skills, particularly in Google Suite.

• Preferred experience in virtual education.

• Demonstrated ability to foster a positive, equitable, and student-centered environment.

• Strong customer-focused approach.

• High degree of adaptability.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

• Willingness and capacity to travel for school-based meetings, training, graduations, field trips, and state testing events (may require overnight travel).

• Ability to work occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families.
