
Strategic Finance Business Partner – Product & Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Serve as the primary Finance Business Partner for the Product and Engineering teams, providing direct support for annual planning, quarterly forecasts, and decision-making assistance.
• Lead the annual budget process for R&D and cloud hosting (COGS), collaborating across departments to amalgamate bottom-up inputs into a cohesive financial plan.
• Perform monthly analyses of cost variances and spending trends to identify root causes, transforming findings into recommendations that enhance business performance.
• Actively oversee the achievement of business unit outcomes, including the identification and mitigation of risks while pursuing opportunities.
• Develop and standardize disaggregated P&L reporting at the product level to enhance visibility into unit economics, gross margins, and investment efficiency.
• Take ownership of the financial framework for Product Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), converting product-level performance into roadmap and resource allocation decisions.
• Deploy modern planning system dashboards (Pigment) to present forward-looking insights across the Product and Engineering divisions.
• Adopt a builder's mindset to leverage AI in finance—identifying tools and workflows that enhance decision-making speed, streamline the forecasting process, and allow for deeper business collaboration.
• 7+ years of comprehensive finance experience, including roles in FP&A or finance/operations.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and quick adaptability.
• A forward-thinking attitude, curiosity, and the capability to simplify complex information into easily digestible financial models and narratives.
• Experience in a SaaS business model and within a global organization is considered a significant advantage.
• Excellent communication skills, both in verbal presentations and written business memos.
• Strong relationship-building, collaboration, and influencing skills, particularly at the senior leadership level.
• Process-driven, with experience in developing scalable processes and utilizing automation.
• High systems aptitude and technical proficiency in advanced planning systems (Pigment, Adaptive); familiarity with AI/ML applications is a strong plus.
