Staff Technical Program Manager

📋 Description

• Spearhead the strategy, definition, and high-quality execution of company-wide initiatives characterized by high ambiguity, complexity, risk, and executive visibility—taking ownership of results from start to finish.

• Convert poorly defined challenges into well-organized, cross-functional programs; design scalable execution plans and operational mechanisms that set benchmarks for quality and efficiency.

• Foster deep technical alignment between Engineering and Product—proposing, evaluating, influencing, and mitigating risks associated with architectural decisions and implementation strategies at the organizational leadership level.

• Develop and maintain cross-program roadmaps that synchronize multiple teams and workstreams; proactively identify dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs to ensure timely delivery.

• Collaborate closely with VPs and executive leadership to align program objectives with business strategy; create clear narratives and decision frameworks that expedite outcomes.

• Enhance team performance by identifying systemic deficiencies, suggesting pragmatic alternatives, and modeling solutions that boost efficiency, quality, and maintainability.

• Establish and refine program frameworks, processes, and evaluation criteria that serve as reusable standards widely adopted across the organization.

• Mentor and onboard TPMs at various levels; cultivate a culture where the best ideas prevail, conflicts are resolved constructively, and teams communicate with clarity and empathy.

• Oversee the integration of enterprise fulfillment, picking, delivery orchestration, and marketplace capabilities into a unified global platform; define phased roadmaps encompassing discovery, gap analysis, and platform evolution.

• Act as a liaison between Instacart’s North America-based engineering teams and Instaleap’s Bogotá-based personnel—coordinating across time zones, languages, and cultures to sustain alignment and momentum.

• Ensure continuity for nearly 100 existing international retail partners during integration, facilitating cross-sell opportunities and maintaining uninterrupted live operations.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership to establish cross-team collaboration models, including tech lead identification, mentor pairing, and hands-on ramp projects across the integrated organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of post-graduation experience in technology as a Technical Program Manager, Engineering Manager, Product Manager, or a similar technical role.

• Proficiency in Spanish.

• Proven experience leading comprehensive, company-wide programs of high complexity and ambiguity across multiple engineering organizations and cross-functional partners.

• Demonstrated capacity to create program structures and cross-program roadmaps; skilled in developing execution plans and operational rhythms tailored to program requirements.

• In-depth technical knowledge that allows you to influence architectural choices, mitigate complex technical risks, and guide implementation at the organizational leadership level.

• Exceptional communication abilities, including the creation of executive-level narratives and presentations for VP and C-suite audiences; adept at customizing messages according to audience and context.

• Data-driven decision-maker with a strong strategic mindset—capable of defining paths forward for ambiguous challenges and identifying new, high-impact problem areas.

• Experience in driving continuous improvements in processes, metrics, and program design; recognized for setting a high operational standard that others strive to emulate.

• Fluent in Spanish (both spoken and written) with daily collaboration experience across Spanish-speaking engineering, product, and commercial teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in a technology or engineering discipline.
