Staff Software Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assess and enhance the performance, scalability, and reliability of backend services.

• Foster and advocate for a culture of engineering excellence.

• Perform design and code reviews, raising the standards for engineering rigor.

• Collaborate with product management, customer success, and customer support to ensure an optimal user experience.

• Emphasize the development of consistent and cohesive REST APIs along with domain-driven service design to streamline and orchestrate service contracts.

• Offer technical leadership and mentorship to fellow software engineers.

• Lead architectural decisions while ensuring alignment with long-term technology strategies.

• Identify and resolve systemic technical challenges.

• Mentor and guide engineers, promoting their technical development.

• Contribute to the establishment of engineering best practices and standards.

• Engage in strategic planning and the development of roadmaps.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional work.

• Over 8 years of experience in developing clean, well-architected, distributed, and scalable software.

• Solid computer science fundamentals, with extensive knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design.

• Proficient in Java and Java-based microservices utilizing Spring Boot.

• Experience in designing and maintaining customer-facing RESTful APIs.

• Skilled in the design and implementation of relational database schemas using PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or similar systems.

• Familiar with unit/integration testing methodologies and tools such as JUnit/Mockito, or equivalent.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, git-flow, and SonarQube for CI/CD is a plus.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a comparable field.

• Proven ability to lead technical projects and influence technical direction.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Experience with payment rails and ACH is HIGHLY preferred.
