This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +34 more states.
• Technical Leadership & Architecture: Establish the long-term technical vision and architectural roadmap for FuzeRx’s B2B and consumer platforms. Influence decisions regarding microservices design, API architecture, database schemas, and data pipelines.
• Engineering Excellence & Code Quality: Set a standard by producing clean, highly optimized, and maintainable code for essential system components. Develop engineering standards, advocate for thorough code reviews, and promote modern testing methodologies.
• System Scalability & Performance: Take ownership of the reliability and performance of our primary platforms. Identify and resolve intricate systemic challenges, optimize intensive PostgreSQL workloads, and design high-throughput infrastructure on AWS.
• Cross-Squad Force Multiplier: Serve as a technical advisor and mentor to engineers across various squads. Decompose large, ambiguous technical challenges into actionable phases that both junior and senior engineers can effectively execute.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Pharmacy Operations, and Engineering Managers to assess technical feasibility, mitigate risks in complex roadmaps, and align technology decisions with business goals.
• Security & Compliance Safeguarding: Design systems with privacy as a fundamental principle. Ensure that our codebase, data-at-rest, and data-in-transit comply fully with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2), protecting sensitive patient information.
• Innovation & R&D: Assess new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies. Create prototypes and proofs-of-concept (POCs) to mitigate risks associated with new initiatives before they are implemented across the broader engineering team.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• Technical Experience: Over 8 years of progressive experience in software engineering, including a minimum of 3 years in a role as a Tech Lead, Architect, or Staff Engineer focused on designing complex, distributed systems.
• Tools & Tech Stack: Expert-level proficiency in at least one core programming language (Ruby on Rails or Python) along with deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, TypeScript/JavaScript, and AWS cloud services (e.g., ECS, RDS, Lambda, VPC).
• System Design Expertise: Demonstrated success in designing, constructing, and scaling high-volume API-driven transactional or logistical platforms.
• Communication & Influence: Outstanding ability to explain complex architectural decisions to both highly technical engineers and non-technical stakeholders (e.g., clinical, product, and operational leaders).
• Shift / Site Specific Requirements: Standard business hours; availability for critical tier-3 escalation architecture support when necessary.
