Staff Software Engineer – FUSE Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Maintain, enhance, and refine our FUSE module, implementing upstream changes as necessary.

• Design and develop in C/C++ under strict deadlines with minimal oversight.

• Define and communicate technical designs with the necessary details.

• Oversee the entire application development process, from design and development to testing and deployment.

• Engage in technical reviews throughout the development lifecycle.

• Architect and troubleshoot system-level components, particularly focusing on the file system and associated storage system elements.

• Conduct research-based technical tasks: Establish research methodologies, document findings, and draw conclusions. Must be capable of designing solutions based on the research conducted.

• Mentor junior developers.

• Provide support for product deployment and resolve production defects promptly.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in system software development and complex problem-solving.

• Proficient in the following programming languages: C/C++.

• Exceptional Linux development and deployment skills, including but not limited to file system development.

• Comprehensive understanding of OS principles and the architecture of Kernel procedures.

• Extensive experience with open-source development toolchains like gcc, gdb, g++, and git.

• Experience in designing and developing parallel programs.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English.

• Knowledge of Linux Kernel File Systems.

• Familiarity with user space IO frameworks such as Fuse and SPDK.

• Preferred: Strong understanding of RDMA networking principles, libfabric, zero-copy, verbs, etc.

• Knowledge of performance engineering.

• Experience working within a Scrum Agile environment.

• Background in complex network programming, including TCP/IP or RDMA.
