Staff Software Engineer – Databases

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical direction regarding roadmap matters for Tempo.

• Spearhead multi-quarter technical projects from problem identification to implementation.

• Take responsibility for the architecture of key Tempo components: ingestion, storage, query, and metrics generation.

• Create APIs for both human and agent interactions.

• Promote operational excellence by adhering to specific SLOs.

• Guide engineers through code assessments and design critiques.

• Participate in open source contributions by engaging with the community.

• Proven experience in technical leadership, particularly in managing complex, multi-quarter projects.

• Significant hands-on expertise with distributed data systems.

• Proficient in Go or comparable systems programming languages (e.g., Rust, C, C++).

• Strong emphasis on software craftsmanship.

• Operational mindset with experience in production-level services.

• Customer-oriented with a pragmatic approach to deconstructing complex challenges.

• Exceptional documentation and communication abilities in a remote work setting.
