This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and enhance foundational platform services that drive Praia's consumer experience products.
• Oversee code and design reviews, setting the technical direction and providing mentorship to fellow engineers.
• Create and manage enterprise integration services for EMRs (Epic/MyChart and others) using HL7 FHIR APIs and contemporary integration patterns.
• Leverage Databricks and Apache Spark for intricate data engineering tasks (pipelines, workflows, notebooks) to facilitate product and integration requirements.
• Design and maintain secure APIs with robust authentication and authorization mechanisms, along with auditing and least privilege principles.
• Generate and sustain high-quality developer documentation (integration guides, runbooks).
• Embrace a modern DevOps approach, taking ownership of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit/integration), infrastructure-as-code, monitoring/logging, and data-driven incident response.
• Collaborate directly with Product, Design, and Customer-facing teams to convert intricate business needs into dependable technical solutions.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in building and managing production software, demonstrating staff- or senior-level scope and clear ownership of complex, distributed systems.
• Proficient programming skills in Java, Python, and Spark.
• Practical experience with Databricks (jobs, Delta Lake) and a strong ability to collaborate closely with data teams.
• Direct experience with integrating EMR/EHR systems and understanding healthcare interoperability standards; hands-on experience with FHIR APIs is required.
• Experience in designing and delivering cloud-native services (AWS/Azure/GCP), including deployments based on Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Extensive knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC and API security patterns (mTLS, JWT, secrets management, least privilege), along with secure SDLC practices.
• Familiarity with modern observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing, APM) and a disciplined approach to incident response.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; proven track record of crafting clear technical design documents and presenting architecture to senior stakeholders.
