This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +44 more states.
• Design and develop the data normalization, schema mapping, validation, enrichment, and distribution pipeline for a brand-new intelligent data warehouse.
• Write production code as a hands-on individual contributor; this position does not involve delegating implementation tasks to others.
• Assume technical ownership from architecture to deployment, ensuring accountability for reliability, performance, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with a small seed team to establish the complete architecture for an AI-native data warehouse tailored for institutional financial clients.
• Provide well-informed decisions regarding schema design, normalization strategies, API exposure patterns, and approaches to data distribution.
• Assess and select technologies with a focus on those that are reliable and scalable.
• Develop and implement an evaluation framework that ensures AI-generated outputs are trustworthy in critical financial data environments.
• Create cross-model comparison tools, deterministic validation checks, and human-in-the-loop review processes.
• Contribute to a shared AI evaluation infrastructure that can serve as a foundational element across various products.
• Utilize agentic coding tools and LLM-assisted development as your primary workflow, which is the standard practice for the entire team.
• Express strong opinions on maximizing the effectiveness of AI-assisted development while upholding quality and reliability.
• Establish coding standards, review practices, and architectural documentation that can scale as the team expands.
• Help define the standards of excellence for a team working rapidly without compromising on quality.
• Mentor engineers and offer technical guidance as the team grows.
• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering, demonstrating Staff-level technical scope and influence.
• A portfolio showcasing deployed production systems; candidates should be prepared to discuss specific technical decisions they made and code they wrote; this role is not suitable for those whose main contributions involve directing others.
• Strong hands-on experience in data pipeline or data warehouse engineering, including schema design, ETL/ELT patterns, normalization, and API-based data distribution.
• Practical experience working with LLMs, including prompt design, model orchestration, evaluation, and output validation in operational systems rather than just experimental settings.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows; familiarity with these tools is essential, along with strong opinions on their effective use.
• Experience with AWS data infrastructure; familiarity with Redshift is a plus.
• Strong written communication skills, capable of translating technical designs into clear documentation for both engineering and product stakeholders.
• Ability to critically assess AI-generated code and outputs, including recognizing failure modes, regressions, and edge cases.
