Staff Software Engineer – Banking and Money Movement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and architecture of large-scale, intricate systems and components, making choices that influence both immediate and long-term product strategies.

• Assume responsibility for significant technical projects, guiding teams while ensuring they align with customer requirements and business objectives.

• Propel architectural enhancements, optimizing for scalability, performance, and maintainability, while considering both current and future system demands.

• Mentor and support fellow engineers, offering technical leadership and cultivating an environment of growth, learning, and excellence within the team.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, including product, design, and other engineering teams, to define and deliver impactful solutions.

• Develop and sustain a comprehensive understanding of the product, business needs, and user experience, ensuring that engineering choices align with the company's goals.

• Independently lead the design and implementation of high-impact features and systems, ensuring high-quality outputs with minimal oversight.

• Foster innovation and advocate for the adoption of best practices within the engineering team, while questioning the status quo to continuously enhance processes.

• Champion software craftsmanship, ensuring that code is clean, efficient, and in line with the organization's architectural vision.

• Engage in setting the technical vision and long-term roadmap for your product area and ensure team alignment with these objectives.

• Participate in on-call coverage.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in backend engineering, with a solid foundation in system design and architecture.

• 3+ years of experience in payments or the FinTech sector.

• Proven track record of leading technical projects and teams, with the capability to make decisions that enhance the product's overall success.

• Extensive expertise in one or more backend technologies (e.g., Java, Python), relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc.), and significant experience with web services, microservices, and distributed systems.

• Experience in working with large-scale, high-performance, and reliable systems.

• Ability to decompose complex business challenges into elegant, scalable technical solutions involving multiple interacting components.

• A strong history of designing, constructing, and scaling maintainable, robust systems, ensuring high availability and minimal technical debt.

• Experience in developing and maintaining technical roadmaps, and providing leadership to ensure successful project delivery.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• A strong emphasis on quality and a commitment to meeting deadlines while upholding a high level of accountability.

• Experience in mentoring and guiding less-experienced engineers, promoting technical growth and fostering high-performing teams.
