This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the technical strategy for a substantial AI-native domain, such as agent architecture, platform abstractions, or evaluation and guardrail infrastructure.
• Serve as the technical lead for a squad or cross-team initiative, breaking down ambiguous challenges, organizing delivery, removing obstacles, and maintaining the team's focus on results.
• Create and assess design documents, as well as make and record architectural decisions.
• Define clear technical ownership and ensure that reviews progress smoothly without delays.
• Design and develop production AI agents utilizing retrieval, orchestration, policy-based routing, tool invocation, evaluation harnesses, and lifecycle observability.
• Establish and uphold standards for production-ready agents, covering testability, rollback safety, cost limits, failure modes, and human-in-the-loop boundaries.
• Develop and enhance AI platform abstraction layers, shared libraries, patterns, and guardrails.
• Convert privacy, security, and compliance requirements for sensitive healthcare data into tangible architecture.
• Manage full-stack delivery in TypeScript/Node.js and Python across service/API layers, data-processing tasks, and internal interfaces.
• Utilize cloud infrastructure, event-driven patterns, CI/CD, and observability to implement scalable AI-native systems.
• Oversee deployment, monitoring, production troubleshooting, and on-call responsibilities.
• Collaborate with product, operations, clinical operations, and business leaders to identify valuable use cases.
• Lead design sessions, proofs of concept, and collaborative sessions to foster trust and encourage adoption.
• Articulate trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
• Influence the roadmap and prioritization based on technical risk, sequencing, and cost considerations.
• Manage evaluation strategies and metrics for agent accuracy, latency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Instrument systems for post-deployment insight and iterate based on data, feedback, and evolving requirements.
• Mentor and develop engineers through code reviews, design reviews, pairing, and direct feedback.
• Create reusable patterns, documentation, and best practices.
• Anchor the internal AI-native and agentic engineering community of practice.
• Deliver a real product within the first 90 days, take ownership of a domain within six months, and establish patterns that are adopted by other teams within the first year.
• Over 8 years of experience in building and operating production software.
• Significant full-stack expertise in a TypeScript/Node.js backend and at least one additional language (Python is strongly preferred).
• Proven track record of technical leadership as an individual contributor.
• Experience in designing and deploying agentic systems in production, including retrieval, orchestration, tool/function calling, and evaluation.
• Ability to transform a loosely defined problem into a shipped, measurable, agent-powered workflow.
• Familiarity with AI development tools as a force multiplier, with discernment about when to trust, verify, or override them.
• Strong foundation in cloud-native engineering principles.
• Comfortable with CI/CD, observability, and managing what you build.
• Proficient in relational data and SQL.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including design documentation.
• Ability to handle ambiguity and a tendency towards delivering measurable results.
• Experience with agent frameworks and multi-agent architectures at a production scale (strongly desired).
• Familiarity with model evaluation and guardrail infrastructure (strongly desired).
• Experience in building platform capabilities that are leveraged by other engineering teams (strongly desired).
• Background in workflow automation, forecasting-driven products, or supply-demand matching (strongly desired).
• Prior experience in a regulated environment such as healthcare/HIPAA or fintech (strongly desired).
• Experience mentoring engineers or serving as a formal tech lead (strongly desired).
• Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
• Medical, Dental and Vision coverage.
