Staff Software Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Position yourself as the go-to engineer for tackling the most challenging issues, ensuring colleagues leave with the knowledge to tackle future problems independently.

• Lead decisions regarding API surfaces: determining what should be exposed, what remains internal, and establishing stability guarantees for external consumers.

• Take ownership of technical exploration for new capabilities; collaborate with product and clinical stakeholders to convert requirements into actionable contracts.

• Engage in the on-call rotation for the Synapse Everywhere platform; respond to incidents, oversee post-incident reviews, and promote reliability enhancements based on learned experiences.

• Provide expert code evaluations and offer technical mentorship within the team.

• Design solutions on contemporary infrastructure (cloud solutions, Kubernetes, LLMs) with a profound understanding of the principles involved, beyond merely executing infrastructure or managing pipelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7+ years of professional software development experience, with significant time dedicated to designing or managing public or partner-facing APIs.

• Extensive knowledge of back-end technologies such as Golang, Python, and Kotlin.

• Proficient experience with API gateway or management tools in a production setting (e.g., Azure API Management, Kong, AWS API Gateway, or similar).

• Skilled in developing meaningful tests across all layers (from unit tests to live verification).

• Able to establish effective monitoring solutions for both APIs and model performance.

• Strong analytical, research, and communication abilities.

• Experience in the Health Care Industry and/or with Machine Learning, Data Science, or NLP is advantageous.
