Staff Machine Learning Engineer – Music Mission

📋 Description

• Establish and lead the Machine Learning engineering strategy for Discovery Mode and associated royalty programs.

• Convert product objectives into scalable technical solutions.

• Design, construct, assess, deploy, and enhance production Machine Learning systems through practical development.

• Offer technical leadership across intricate ML projects and influence architectural and engineering choices.

• Collaborate with user research, design, data science, product management, and engineering teams to create product features that connect artists with fans.

• Develop prototypes for new methodologies and transform successful concepts into dependable, scalable solutions for Spotify for Artists clientele.

• Lead experimentation, optimization, testing, and tooling efforts to enhance ML system quality, reliability, and effectiveness.

• Collaborate with engineers and ML specialists across Spotify, including Music Tech Research and Personalization, to devise strategies for music promotion.

• Mentor others, share expertise, and enhance engineering practices throughout the wider engineering community.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with Machine Learning and a solid understanding of Machine Learning algorithms, modeling techniques, evaluation, and experimentation.

• Practical experience in designing and deploying production Machine Learning systems at scale.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or similar.

• Capability to define technical direction for complex ML challenges while staying closely involved in implementation and delivery.

• Commitment to reliable software, data-driven development, disciplined experimentation, and creating systems that perform efficiently at scale.

• Experience in leading technically sophisticated projects from conception to production.

• Ability to navigate uncertainty, assess trade-offs, and provide clarity on high-impact projects.

• Skill in communicating technical decisions and risks clearly, fostering alignment with senior technical leaders and cross-functional teams.

• A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

• Capacity to work within the North America region where Spotify maintains a work location.

• Willingness to collaborate within the Eastern time zone.
