This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.
• Take ownership of the architecture, design, and ongoing development of our Kubernetes-based platform on AWS, ensuring it is scalable, resilient, and operationally excellent.
• Create, maintain, and enhance Kubernetes infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code (CDK), while upholding best practices and architectural standards.
• Serve as the technical authority and domain expert for Kubernetes architecture, working closely with the Architecture team to align high-level strategies with implementation, and guiding engineering teams with clear patterns, reference architectures, and best practice suggestions.
• Direct technical decision-making across various teams, offering mentorship, conducting design reviews, and providing hands-on support to foster platform consistency and quality.
• Proactively drive enhancements across the platform by identifying scaling challenges, reliability issues, or operational inefficiencies before they escalate into problems.
• Design and implement secure, compliant, and highly observable Kubernetes environments by integrating monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Guide and assist in migrating non-cloud-native applications to the new infrastructure, evaluating readiness and applying best practices to ensure scalability and maintainability.
• Advocate for automation and GitOps practices to minimize manual work, eliminate drift, and enhance release velocity.
• Spearhead cross-team initiatives and influence technical direction beyond your immediate organization, promoting the adoption of cloud-native best practices.
• Engage in on-call rotations and participate in incident response and root cause analysis.
• In-depth expertise in Kubernetes cluster architecture and operations, with a focus on designing and maintaining multi-node clusters for optimal performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Proficiency in service mesh technologies for managing observability, security, and traffic routing, alongside experience with implementing auto-scaling, optimizing resource use, and planning rolling upgrades and disaster recovery scenarios without downtime.
• Strong understanding of AWS and EKS, with relevant experience.
• Ability to evaluate application readiness and develop migration strategies for various application types, ensuring minimal disruption during transitions.
• An automation-driven mindset with a commitment to identifying and automating repetitive tasks and manual processes.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as DataDog to guarantee high uptime and swift issue resolution.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, complemented by a collaborative, team-oriented approach and a positive attitude.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities across diverse stakeholder groups, with proficient written and verbal English skills.
• Proficiency with AI tools and large language models to enhance platform engineering, automation, and operational efficiency.
