Staff Engineer, Security Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and deliver scalable security solutions.

• Establish partnerships with engineering teams to promote collaboration across key Twilio products and platforms.

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to incorporate scalable security features.

• Utilize metrics and data regarding the security status at the product level to promote accountability and drive action.

• Lead efforts to reduce security risks through technical guidance and influence on engineering roadmaps.

• Conduct security reviews for critical features, new projects, and infrastructure modifications.

• Foster security knowledge among engineering teams through mentorship, technical support, and training.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in security engineering with a solid record of designing and implementing scalable security solutions.

• Extensive technical knowledge in specialized security areas such as application security, cloud security, or product security.

• Proficient in Threat Modeling methodologies and leading security design evaluations.

• Familiarity with leveraging LLMs in security solutions.

• Capability to interpret emerging security threats and trends into actionable engineering requirements and technical plans.

• Strong background in software development with a focus on security engineering.

• Required proficiency in Python; additional programming languages such as Go and Java are advantageous.

• Experience in driving software delivery using robust CI/CD processes.

• Knowledge of best-in-class development productivity practices, including AI tools.

• Demonstrated history of leading cross-functional security initiatives that influenced security outcomes beyond the security organization.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex technical security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
