Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical vision for our Integrations domain, encompassing over 130 provider integrations and more than 95 webhooks that link Yuno's platform to global PSPs, acquirers, payment gateways, fraud, and 3DS providers.

• Lead by influence, coordinating multiple squads, mentoring Senior engineers, and collaborating with Product, Compliance, and Security teams.

• Utilize AI-assisted tools for coding, testing, debugging, and documentation as a daily standard practice.

• Shape the architectural strategy for the integrations platform and spearhead platform-wide enhancements.

• Set the quality standards for the Integrations domain, including testing strategies, observability benchmarks, incident-prevention measures, and production-readiness criteria.

• Mentor and nurture the growth of Senior engineers within the domain, supporting their career advancement.

• Foster communities of practice around integrations engineering, promoting discussions on standards and their adoption.

• Design high-performance APIs and microservices that prioritize reliability, low latency, and throughput.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of backend engineering experience in building high-throughput, production-grade systems using Go, Java, or Kotlin, with a minimum of 3 years at the Senior/Staff/Lead level.

• Proven history of leading architectural decisions that have been adopted by multiple teams, not solely within your own squad.

• Direct experience in payments, fintech, or PCI-regulated systems, including integrations with PSPs, acquirers, fraud/3DS providers, or similar regulated infrastructures.

• Extensive knowledge of microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, and integration patterns at scale.

• Strong proficiency with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), along with familiarity with caching, queues, and asynchronous pipelines.

• Experience in defining technical standards, frameworks, or platform abstractions that serve as a foundation for other teams.

• Working understanding of secure software development, including OWASP and PCI-DSS principles.

• Comfort with AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, Copilot, or similar) as a fundamental part of your workflow, along with a perspective on their benefits and drawbacks.

• Ability to articulate complex technical subjects clearly to engineers, Product teams, and executive stakeholders alike.

• Demonstrated experience in mentoring and developing other engineers.

• Full professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
