Staff Engineer – AI focus

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance the internal AI platform, which serves as a shared layer (including model routing, prompt versioning, tools registry, memory, observability, and cost) distinct from individual solutions, providing a streamlined and self-service experience for both technical and non-technical teams.

• Take full ownership of architecture decisions related to agentic/agent-based systems, including orchestration, state management, idempotency, retry/durability, RAG, model selection and routing, along with planning, executing, and monitoring.

• Assess the effectiveness of AI solutions (including RAG effectiveness, agent reliability, and hallucination rates) utilizing evaluation and regression datasets, and leverage these metrics for informed decision-making rather than mere monitoring.

• Share expertise and elevate the company’s AI standards by offering training, resources, and scalable best practices that broaden usage beyond the team, translating the needs of non-technical areas into actionable solutions.

• Engage in strategic projects actively, delivering high-impact coding results on tight timelines that contribute to significant business metrics.

• Document and communicate architectural decisions clearly, outlining trade-offs, cost estimates, and expected impacts.

• Foster a culture of observability, security, and performance within AI solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundation in distributed systems architecture and cloud technologies, with comprehensive ownership of planning, execution, and observation.

• Expertise in at least one contemporary backend programming language (primarily Go and Python, with relevant experience in Java/Kotlin also considered).

• Practical experience with generative AI and LLMs, including essential concepts such as RAG, MCP, and agent orchestration (utilizing market frameworks or proprietary solutions).

• Capability to assess and quantify AI effectiveness (groundedness/faithfulness, evaluation datasets, regression) — build solutions and ensure they are functioning effectively.

• Excellent communication and technical leadership skills, enabling collaboration across teams and serving both internal technical and non-technical stakeholders, while influencing through reasoning rather than hierarchy.

• A critical and strategic mindset to navigate a domain lacking a predefined playbook.

• Commitment to continuous learning, with a proactive approach to updating knowledge in AI.

• Proven self-directed curiosity, demonstrated through POCs, personal projects, and explorations beyond formal work (focused on building AI rather than merely using it).
