Staff Engineer, AI Developer Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the advancement of our AI Developer Experience, empowering engineers to utilize AI securely and efficiently throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Lead the assessment, implementation, and governance of AI development tools (such as code generation, in-editor assistance, and agentic workflows), ensuring that their adoption is practical, secure, and measurable.

• Assess and enhance the efficiency of common developer tasks across our TypeScript/Node and Python codebases, focusing on build times, pre-push hooks, linting, type checking, conformance checks, and Nx task orchestration.

• Oversee our devcontainer strategy for both local and cloud environments, guaranteeing a secure, consistent, and reproducible development experience that scales effectively across multiple concurrent projects.

• Maintain and enhance local testing frameworks and developer-oriented test infrastructure.

• Manage and develop shared internal libraries and configuration systems utilized across application teams, ensuring they are well-documented, versioned, and easy to adopt.

• Contribute to related areas such as CI/CD and delivery pipelines, SDLC definition, language and library upgrade cycles (Node/Python, NPM, PyPI), developer onboarding and documentation, and observability.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time dedicated to developer tooling, platform engineering, or enhancing developer productivity.

• Profound knowledge of TypeScript/Node and Python ecosystems — familiar with the package management landscape, common build tools, and typical pitfalls.

• Experience with monorepo tooling (like Nx or similar) and an understanding of how to optimize large codebases for speed.

• Practical experience in designing, configuring, and improving development environments based on devcontainers.

• Hands-on experience in evaluating and integrating AI development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, OpenAI, Cursor, Codex) with a thoughtful approach to standards and guardrails beyond just implementation.

• Excellent listening, communication, and leadership abilities — you actively seek feedback from the engineers you support and understand when to lead and when to follow.

• Bonuses:

• Experience in agentic development workflows, MCP (Model Context Protocol), tool orchestration, or AI workflow automation.

• Expertise relevant to AI security including the design of secure execution environments, sandboxing, secrets management, or credential isolation for AI systems.

• Familiarity with cloud-based or remote development environments.

• A full-time position offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The base salary for this role ranges from $170k to $220k. Additionally, this role is eligible for a target annual bonus of 15% of base salary and participation in long-term incentive programs tied to company growth and performance. We utilize market data and consider your job family, background, skills, experience, and U.S. work location to determine compensation within our established pay range.
