Staff DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the design and ongoing enhancement of Cadence's cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and secure software delivery across all environments.

• Oversee and advance core Kubernetes services, including robust networking, autoscaling, monitoring, and well-structured patterns for production workloads that facilitate real-time patient monitoring.

• Lead infrastructure-as-code practices utilizing Terraform, including the creation, review, and enforcement of standards for AI-generated IaC to guarantee accuracy and security prior to deployment.

• Establish and uphold DevSecOps controls across clusters, such as least-privilege IAM, container image scanning, and runtime policies—ensuring that the infrastructure aligns with the compliance requirements of a regulated healthcare setting.

• Enhance observability practices with tools like Datadog, refining alerting, incident response, and the feedback mechanisms that maintain the availability and performance of clinical systems.

• Manage infrastructure expenditures with a disciplined approach, identifying and addressing cost inefficiencies without sacrificing system resilience.

• Provide mentorship to engineers across the team on infrastructure best practices, elevating the technical quality in pull requests, runbooks, and production operations.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of practical DevOps or platform engineering experience, demonstrating ownership of production cloud infrastructure at scale.

• Extensive experience with AWS and Kubernetes, including the design, operation, and troubleshooting of production clusters under actual load.

• Expertise in Terraform, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools.

• Strong understanding of observability tools, including Datadog or comparable platforms, with experience in building alerting systems and leading incident response efforts.

• Background in healthcare or another highly regulated sector, with knowledge of relevant compliance and security requirements.

• Proven history of mentoring engineers and enhancing infrastructure standards within a team.

• Proficiency with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted development tools; demonstrated experience in building or assessing AI-powered systems in production.
