This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
β’ Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable machine learning systems for widespread application throughout the exchange, including training pipelines, real-time inference, validation, and monitoring.
β’ Act as the primary expert in deep learning and advanced data science fields, possessing the knowledge to advise on method selection across related areas.
β’ Spearhead the assessment and integration of new AI/ML modeling techniques, frameworks, and research developments pertinent to OpenXβs marketplace challenges.
β’ Establish and advance technical standards and best practices within the domain, promoting broader adoption throughout the organization.
β’ Identify and lead impactful, cross-team data science initiatives, such as enhancing bidding strategies, developing new prediction systems, or overhauling experimentation frameworks.
β’ Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to steer the data science roadmap for a product area or platform capability.
β’ Work alongside product managers and commercial stakeholders to convert marketplace challenges into data science solutions that yield measurable business results.
β’ Tackle novel, ambiguous issues requiring innovative approaches in methodology, algorithms, or feature engineering.
β’ Mentor and cultivate senior data scientists, guiding them towards enhanced technical leadership.
β’ Elevate the skills, impact, and scientific rigor of surrounding teams through mentorship, architectural patterns, and strategic guidance.
β’ Articulate technical strategies and build consensus on complex decisions among senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
β’ Ph.D. in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical field with 6+ years of relevant industry experience; OR M.S./B.S. with 8+ years of pertinent experience and a proven record of guiding cross-team technical strategy and delivering organization-wide impact.
β’ Extensive knowledge in deep learning and comprehensive fluency across the modern ML toolkit, with a strong understanding of optimization techniques; additional experience in causal inference or experimental design is advantageous.
β’ Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex, production-grade ML systems that function effectively at scale.
β’ Proven history of nurturing data science/machine learning projects to maturity with substantial business impact, including ongoing support and enhancement of those systems post-deployment.
β’ Expertise in probability and statistics, particularly techniques that can be applied to large datasets.
β’ Proficient in Python and SQL; experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
β’ Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
β’ Established record of cross-team technical leadership and mentorship of senior data scientists and technical partners.
