Staff Data Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and take ownership of the data infrastructure that supports Phoenix’s agentic commerce platform.

• Transform unprocessed commerce events into organized, decision-ready insights that facilitate autonomous payment routing, approval probability assessments, checkout optimization agents, and merchant copilots.

• Design the event models, pipelines, and data agreements that enable AI agents to observe, reason, act, and enhance their performance in real-time.

• Focus on low latency, high accuracy, replayability, and observability in your designs.

• Specify how intelligence is integrated into essential commerce behaviors and how Phoenix’s systems learn from each transaction to consistently enhance merchant performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience in software and data engineering, particularly with production systems.

• Practical experience utilizing AI coding agents in your regular development processes.

• Extensive experience in constructing event-driven architectures and distributed data pipelines.

• In-depth experience in modeling transactional and behavioral datasets.

• Familiarity with data requirements for agentic and autonomous systems, including grounding, feature readiness, decision traceability, and feedback loop design.

• Proficient in SQL and experienced with distributed/cloud-native environments (AWS or GCP).

• Experience with analytics databases, such as ClickHouse.

• Background in designing systems that prioritize replayability, accuracy, and observability.

• Comfortable operating within a TypeScript/Node.js backend ecosystem.

• Possess a startup mentality: ready to take ownership in ambiguous, high-stakes areas.
