Staff Data Engineer – Subscriptions User Understanding

📋 Description

• Establish and lead the long-term data engineering strategy for the Subscriptions User Understanding sector, pinpointing opportunities that enhance scalability, reliability, and business impact.

• Create scalable batch and streaming data platforms that facilitate analytics, experimentation, machine learning, and subscriber interactions.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams to transform intricate business challenges into robust, well-structured data solutions.

• Guide architectural choices and set engineering best practices for data quality, governance, observability, reliability, and operational excellence across various teams.

• Construct data models and platform architectures that accommodate sustainable growth towards one billion users while maintaining an equilibrium between performance, cost, and maintainability.

• Streamline complex systems, minimize technical debt, and enhance the developer experience throughout the wider data ecosystem.

• Mentor senior engineers, shape technical direction through collaboration, and cultivate a culture of intentional engineering, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in designing, constructing, and operating large-scale cloud-native data platforms.

• Extensive experience in building reliable distributed data pipelines utilizing technologies such as Scio, BigQuery, Dataflow, GCS, SQL, Python, or comparable cloud-native tools.

• Strong grasp of contemporary data modeling, metadata management, governance, and data quality methodologies.

• Capability to balance immediate business demands with long-term architectural sustainability.

• Proficient in communicating with engineers, product managers, data scientists, analysts, and senior leadership.

• Passionate about mentoring engineers and supporting technical teams' growth through coaching, technical guidance, and constructive feedback.
