Staff Data Engineer – Product Insights, Gaming Industry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Proactively design, develop, and enhance scalable ETL pipelines for both structured and semi-structured data that support Insights use cases, growth metrics, pubsports, and various out-of-game data sets.

• Create and implement intricate data models utilizing industry best practices to provide a comprehensive ecosystem view of both in- and out-of-game experiences, while guaranteeing accuracy, scalability, and long-term usability.

• Design and establish robust, maintainable, and high-performance data solutions.

• Automate workflows to minimize manual intervention and improve data processing efficiency, including automation for content, growth, and pubsports areas.

• Guide data engineers at all levels through code reviews and technical mentorship, establishing best practices and promoting technical growth.

• Enhance query performance and address pipeline bottlenecks to facilitate improved data accessibility.

• Assess and prototype new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to elevate data engineering capabilities.

• Support cost efficiency by ensuring scalable and effective data solutions.

• Maintain data quality, governance, and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

• Contribute to the Data Engineering team's discipline by influencing infrastructure, establishing craft standards, developing tools, and promoting organizational best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

• Over 6 years of experience in data engineering or a similar field.

• Proficient hands-on coding skills, particularly in Python, SQL, and tools such as Airflow and dbt.

• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP) and Databricks.

• Expertise in designing effective and scalable data models with large datasets, collaborating across multiple teams and with insights or data stakeholders.

• Proven ability to function as a Lead Individual Contributor and work collaboratively with engineering, analytics, and product teams.

• Demonstrated experience mentoring and guiding other engineers in technical implementations and craft excellence.
