Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and develop data pipelines that gather information from internal sources to a centralized warehouse.

• Design efficient, well-documented, and adaptable data models and schemas.

• Implement data quality checks and validation throughout the pipeline.

• Manage sensitive customer and user data through access control, redaction, and retention policies.

• Collaborate with product, engineering, finance, and revenue teams to define data sources and analytical tables.

• Empower teams to independently access reliable, well-structured data.

• Complete a collaborative take-home coding challenge in SQL/Go via GitHub.

⛳️ Requirements

• Openness to collaborate with Teleport engineers on a coding challenge in SQL/Go.

• Builder mentality with experience in developing zero-to-one products.

• Proficiency in data modeling and SQL.

• Extensive experience in constructing data pipelines using Python or Go.

• Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.

• Experience with pipeline orchestration or transformation tools.

• Proven track record of handling sensitive data responsibly, including access control and data retention practices.

• Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies.

• Comfortable shifting focus and engaging directly with stakeholders across the organization.

• Collaborative, transparent, and humble mindset with a readiness to seek feedback.

• Knowledge of Go, mathematics/statistics, and Airflow/dbt is a plus, but not mandatory.

• Must reside in the United States.

• Must be able to participate in onboarding week in Oakland, California, and attend occasional team events.

• Must be comfortable undergoing background, employment, and educational credential verification.

• Must complete a take-home project that may require up to two weeks.
