Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the foundational data for AI systems.

• Become part of a highly productive engineering team that specializes in pipelines, data models, and platform infrastructure.

• Collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to guarantee data accuracy, observability, and scalability.

• Create data architecture that adheres to regulations within a financial context.

• Oversee AI-generated pipeline code and uphold standards for production safety.

• Ensure end-to-end data quality, identify root causes, and maintain platforms that evolve as data investments expand.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound expertise in SQL and Python, with the ability to design and maintain complex transformation logic at scale, adhering to production-grade testing and documentation standards.

• Practical experience in constructing and managing production data pipelines utilizing modern tools: dbt, Airflow or equivalent orchestration, and at least one cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).

• Strong foundations in data modeling, including dimensional modeling, slowly changing dimensions, and schema design that balances flexibility with query performance.

• Significant experience in a regulated sector (financial services, healthcare, or similar) — you are familiar with what SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliance entails regarding how pipelines are constructed, accessed, audited, and controlled.
