Staff Cloud Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the execution and ensure technical excellence across cloud platform initiatives

• Establish infrastructure standards, perform design and code assessments, and guide architectural choices

• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to shape the cloud platform roadmap

• Promote a culture centered on ownership, quality, automation, and continuous enhancement

• Design, construct, and manage scalable AWS infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code

• Develop and sustain Kubernetes-based platforms, including EKS, along with container workflows for application teams

• Create self-service tools and paved paths that empower teams to safely deploy and manage services

• Ensure the platform consistently supports both application and data workloads

• Design platform functionalities with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness

• Optimize cloud systems for performance, scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency

• Identify and mitigate infrastructure bottlenecks, scaling limitations, and reliability risks

• Establish reliability practices, such as SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and incident response protocols

• Enhance observability, maintainability, and operational readiness across cloud platform services

• Collaborate with backend, SRE, data, autonomy, and security teams to deliver comprehensive platform capabilities

• Support the complete system design from edge devices to cloud infrastructure

• Coordinate with teams to build and uphold release processes and CI/CD pipelines

• Assist in aligning platform functionalities with product, engineering, security, and mission requirements

• Enforce secure cloud practices, including IAM least privilege, secrets management, and network segmentation

• Uphold high standards for automation, testing, observability, documentation, and infrastructure reliability

• Support technical evaluations, design discussions, and production readiness initiatives

• Develop systems with security, scalability, and long-term maintainability in focus

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in cloud platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or related engineering fields

• In-depth knowledge of AWS core services, including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and managed data services

• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code

• Practical experience managing Kubernetes, including EKS, and containerized environments

• Significant experience in building CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation

• Proficient in Go, Python, or similar languages for platform tooling and automation

• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, and distributed systems fundamentals

• Capability to drive projects from concept to production

• Strong technical judgment and ability to work independently in dynamic environments

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance if required
