Principal Cloud Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Serve as a trusted technical consultant to teams, customer executives, and technical leaders, converting intricate technical roadmaps into understandable business value and risk evaluations.

• Develop a multi-year, enterprise-level strategy for cloud adoption, migration, and modernization, emphasizing Google Cloud services and strategic interoperability with an additional cloud platform (preferably AWS).

• Create and implement global cloud governance frameworks, architectural standards, reference models, and reusable deployment, security, and operations patterns across all environments.

• Promote advanced DevOps practices and accountability models.

• Manage cloud cost optimization initiatives, and set up technical guardrails to maximize ROI across the multi-cloud landscape.

• Design and lead the implementation of complex, large-scale solutions on Google Cloud, utilizing services such as GKE, Cloud Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Vertex AI, and Cloud Spanner.

• Design and oversee integration patterns for hybrid and multi-cloud systems, prioritizing low-latency, secure connectivity, and consistent Identity and Access Management (IAM) across platforms (e.g., utilizing federated identity or centralized key management).

• Establish the DevSecOps and cloud security posture, ensuring that designs comply with strict regulatory (e.g., data residency) and global compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

• Spearhead Proof-of-Concept (PoC) initiatives for emerging technologies like Generative AI (e.g., Google Vertex AI or AWS Bedrock) and serverless computing, defining their architecture and integration into the enterprise framework.

• Develop a comprehensive visibility strategy to monitor system health and proactively address performance bottlenecks across complex cloud environments.

• Create automated governance guardrails that ensure every deployment is secure, compliant, and cost-optimized by default.

• Mentor, coach, and nurture a team of Senior/Lead Cloud Engineers, cultivating a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous learning.

• Take ownership of the continuous improvement of the cloud architecture delivery pipeline, advocating for GitOps and end-to-end automation throughout the development lifecycle.

• Collaborate with the Data & AI Team and Engineering Leads to ensure architectural decisions are in alignment with product roadmaps and organizational goals.

• Enhance the organization’s technical brand by writing engineering blogs and whitepapers, and representing the company as a speaker at industry conferences and meetups.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years in Cloud Architecture leadership roles, managing enterprise-scale transformations.

• Google Cloud as a primary platform: Expertise in Google Cloud services, networking, and security.

• Second Cloud: Extensive architectural experience in AWS (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, EKS) or Azure.

• Certifications: Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect (Preferred) and Professional/Expert-level certification from the secondary cloud provider (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional).

• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, including multi-cloud modules.

• Knowledge of at least one programming language (Java/Python).
