Staff Backend Engineer, PHP, Go

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Hostaway is in search of a highly driven Staff Backend Engineer to become a part of the Core team.

• This role involves managing integrations with our key partners, specifically Online Travel Agencies.

• These integrations play a crucial role in our customers’ daily operations, facilitating smooth connectivity between their properties and major booking platforms.

• Staff Engineers are tasked with overseeing the technical maturity within their specific domain.

• A deep understanding of the business challenges the PM aims to address is essential for making informed decisions about shaping the technical solutions for the team.

• You will be supported by an Engineering Manager who will assist in coordinating the team’s daily tasks, maintaining a consistent delivery pace, and ensuring the team is positioned for success.

• Break down intricate projects into manageable tasks and promote ongoing enhancement in our engineering practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in SaaS software development, including at least 2 years in a leadership position.

• Advanced proficiency in any backend language or platform, with a strong eagerness to delve into PHP and Go.

• Solid understanding of relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.

• Familiarity with transitioning to event-driven service-oriented architectures by applying Domain Driven Design (DDD) principles.

• Proven experience in designing and developing RESTful web APIs.

• Substantial experience in writing Unit Tests and Integration Tests (using jest or a similar tool).

• Experience in a Cloud environment, with AWS being a plus.

• Familiarity with message queues (e.g., AWS SQS) is an advantage.

• Proficiency in English at a C1 level.
