This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• In the role of Staff Automation Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical authority in the automation domain, guiding the engineering direction for intricate automation projects.
• You will establish the architectural vision, lead the automation strategy for the organization, and promote effective development practices.
• Acting as a liaison between technology and business, you will convert strategic goals into scalable and secure automation solutions.
• Enhance technical capabilities within the team through mentoring, establishing standards, enabling development, and demonstrating leadership through actions.
• Maintain a hands-on approach by directly engaging in complex implementations, making architectural decisions, conducting code reviews, troubleshooting, and providing production support for mission-critical automations.
• Define the operating model for automation, which includes the intake process, prioritization criteria, ownership, support model, governance forums, development standards, and lifecycle management.
• Establish prioritization criteria for the automation portfolio based on factors like business impact, operational risk, effort required, scalability, maintainability, and return on investment (ROI).
• Set standards for observability, auditability, supportability, and incident management concerning business-critical automations.
• Create guidelines for logs, metrics, alerts, execution history, audit trails, runbooks, ownership, and post-incident reviews.
• Define AI governance and LLMOps practices, encompassing prompt/version management, evaluation datasets, model selection criteria, hallucination mitigation, human-in-the-loop patterns, access control, traceability, and responsible AI usage.
• Design reusable automation components, templates, connectors, libraries, golden paths, and reference architectures to expedite delivery and standardize quality.
• Evaluate, select, and govern automation, RPA, workflow, and AI orchestration tools based on their scalability, security, cost, vendor lock-in, maintainability, and fit within the enterprise.
• Set standards for highly validated automation flows, ensuring that each process includes automated reconciliation mechanisms and audit trails to uphold data integrity across systems.
• Define and audit development security practices along with information management within the team.
• Establish guidelines for the responsible and effective use of AI-assisted engineering tools, promoting code quality, testing, documentation, security, and sustainable engineering practices.
• Mentor and cultivate technical capabilities across the team through established standards, enablement, and leading by example.
• Educational background in computer science, engineering, or related software development fields.
• Proficient in Python: capable of writing production-grade code, conducting architectural reviews, and defining patterns for the team.
• Experience with workflow automation platforms: responsible for architecture, governance, scalability, monitoring, reusable patterns, and operational standards for platforms like n8n or similar.
• Expertise in AI orchestration platforms: design production-grade AI workflows and agents using tools such as Langflow, LangGraph, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, or similar, including RAG, tool usage, multi-LLM integration, evaluations, and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Knowledge of APIs: define contracts, integration patterns, and API governance within the automation context.
• Advanced AWS proficiency: cloud architecture knowledge for automations at scale, encompassing costs, resilience, and compliance.
• RPA strategy and governance expertise: overseeing RPA tools like UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, or Power Automate, determining when to apply RPA versus APIs, workflows, scripts, AI tools, or system integrations.
• Understanding of container and deployment architecture: knowledgeable about Docker and Kubernetes-based deployment models and defining when automations should operate as scripts, serverless functions, containers, workflows, or platform services.
• Advanced security awareness: responsible for defining and auditing development security practices and information management within the team.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering practices: establishing guidelines for the responsible and effective use of tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar, while promoting code quality, testing, documentation, security, and sustainable engineering practices.
• FinOps perspective: evaluates cost, efficiency, and operational impact in all architectural decisions.
• Practical experience implementing AI frameworks in production projects.
• Soft Skills: possess a strategic view of automation as an integral capability of the company, exert technical influence on product, operations, and engineering decisions, and communicate effectively with executives regarding ROI, risks, and trade-offs.
• Cultivate an automation and agentic development culture within the team, demonstrating a high capacity for mentorship and people development.
• Lead by example: a reference point for quality, security, and innovation, focused on achieving business outcomes rather than solely technical delivery.
• Industry-Specific Knowledge: as a Staff Automation Engineer, you will have extensive hands-on experience with enterprise platforms, internal operations, and back-office workflows, alongside a strategic understanding of business processes, compliance frameworks, and operational efficiency drivers.
• Leverage this expertise to integrate automation as a key capability of the organization, facilitating delivery across various functions such as Finance, HR, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Internal Operations. Beyond influencing technical direction, you will collaborate with Product Managers, Process Owners, and Business and Operation Leaders to define roadmaps, assess trade-offs, and guide decisions that balance delivery speed, system reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term business impact.
• Translate domain-specific needs into actionable technical direction and foster a culture where automation outcomes are evaluated not only by execution but also by their tangible effects on process efficiency, data quality, compliance posture, cost reduction, and internal user experience, often enhanced through the strategic application of AI agents, LLM-based workflows, and intelligent automation.
