Staff Applied Scientist – Knowledge Graphs, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Knowledge Graph Design & Construction: Develop and refine per-tenant knowledge graph schemas, focusing on entity resolution, temporal modeling, and ontology design tailored to sales execution domains.

• Information Extraction: Build NLP pipelines that convert unstructured conversational and document data (sales calls, emails, CRM notes) into structured knowledge, incorporating coreference resolution, relation extraction, and event detection.

• Contextual Reasoning & Recommendation: Create reasoning and inference layers on the knowledge graph to enable next-best-action suggestions, deal risk scoring, coaching recommendations, and insights on competitive intelligence.

• Representation Learning: Architect and train graph-based models (GNNs, relational embeddings, link prediction) over diverse, multi-relational graph structures to support downstream reasoning and retrieval tasks. Identify and resolve embedding quality challenges, including cold-start entities and temporal drift.

• Domain Modeling: Define sales execution concepts such as deal stages, buyer engagement patterns, representative behaviors, and account health into structured formats that enhance the platform's AI capabilities. Extract ontology structure and lead ontology versioning and migration efforts.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, product, and data teams to transition models from prototype to production, ensuring reliability and measurable impact at scale.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in a relevant field such as Computer Science, NLP, Machine Learning, or a related area emphasizing knowledge representation and reasoning, information extraction and relationship extraction, graph neural networks, recommendation systems, or conversational AI and dialogue systems.

• Strong engineering fundamentals. Capable of writing production-quality code beyond just prototype notebooks. Proficiency in Python and experience with graph databases or query languages (e.g., Neo4j, SPARQL, Cypher) are essential.

• Comfort with ambiguity. Able to transform vague product objectives into specific technical challenges. Does not require a fully defined specification to initiate progress.

• Proven experience in building projects: whether through research prototypes that have advanced beyond theoretical papers, contributions to open-source, or side projects demonstrating real systems thinking. Understands the distinction between a research prototype and a dependable production system, including aspects like monitoring, data drift, latency, and operational excellence.

• Strong Ownership: Assume full responsibility for research and model development projects, covering problem formulation and data analysis through experimentation, deployment, and ongoing performance monitoring, driving results with minimal supervision.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey research concepts and their product implications to diverse audiences.

• Experience mentoring or leading technical initiatives. Have assisted junior team members in their growth and influenced cross-team technical decisions.
