Staff Android Engineer, Brand Ad Formats

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Video Ads Tech Lead: Collaborate closely with Product and Design to create a strategic roadmap aimed at positioning our Video Ads format as an industry leader, while overseeing the technical design and execution of projects that bring this roadmap to life.

• Technical Strategy: Offer expert guidance to the team focused on developing video ads and unique Reddit ad formats capable of scaling to millions of users, by establishing best practices for Android and conducting design reviews.

• Full-Cycle Leadership: Manage the complete development lifecycle—from initial discovery and prototyping to testing, data-driven experimentation, and final deployment.

• Raise the Bar: Mentor senior engineers across various teams in ad formats, establishing best practices in design, testing, and operational excellence, while exemplifying a strong understanding of and advocacy for our customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering (Staff-level seniority).

• Android Mastery: (Minimum of 3+ years) Extensive knowledge of Kotlin and contemporary Android architectural patterns. Completed 4+ Android development projects from concept to production deployment.

• Prior experience in Ad Tech, creating highly interactive and rich-media mobile experiences.

• Product Mindset: Proven success in delivering user-facing features where UI quality and performance are essential.

• System Design: Proficient in navigating complex, data-heavy environments and developing fault-tolerant client-side systems.

• AI: Experience in utilizing GenAI tools to enhance software engineering productivity.

• Experimentation/Analysis: Skilled in working with product metrics and designing and analyzing experiments, with familiarity in tools such as BigQuery, HEX, Firebase, etc.

• Versatility: Willingness to work across the stack when needed and explore innovative methodologies (e.g., AI/ML integration).

• Entrepreneurial spirit: Self-motivated, innovative, and action-oriented, with a passion for building new solutions and thriving in uncertain situations.

• Excellent communication skills: Ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote setting and articulate complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• An experienced technical leader with a strong history of mentoring and enhancing the technical skills and capabilities of team members.

• Strong organizational skills, capable of prioritizing tasks and maintaining project schedules for the team.

• BS degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
