Staff AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Directly report to the VP of Agentic AI.

• Influence the fundamental intelligence and behavior of the agent, determining how it understands intent, plans actions, assists users, and recovers from failures, ensuring it effectively aids users in creating functional Unqork applications.

• Assist in scaling the backend infrastructure that supports the agent in a production environment, ensuring the service remains fast, observable, and resilient as user demand increases.

• Lead the efforts to assess and enhance agent quality over time, transforming actual usage data into a feedback loop that continuously improves the product's capabilities and reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid software engineering principles — you create clean systems, evaluate trade-offs independently, and deliver well-tested code that performs reliably in production.

• Experience in building and managing large-scale backend services, with a strong understanding of performance, reliability, and observability; expertise in TypeScript and Python is essential.

• Proven experience in developing AI- or agent-driven products, along with sound judgment regarding the application of LLMs to real-world challenges — understanding their strengths, weaknesses, and how to work around them.

• Strong product sense — you are capable of making informed product decisions amidst ambiguity, balancing user requirements with technical considerations, and identifying which challenges are worth addressing.

• You are an enthusiastic user of AI coding tools and are keen to explore how AI can streamline workflows, boost creativity, and enhance your overall impact.
